BIOPSTRA
recognizes that the most compelling reason for the economic
plight of Africa is basically lack of appropriate policies,
strategies and implementation capabilities in political,
economic, social, education and cultural areas. Every
development is driven by the advancement in science and
technology. Africa’s scientific technological capacity lags far
behind the rest of the world. This divide can only be bridged
through partnership building and massive technology and
knowledge transfer and absorption.
Most of the existing regional technology
platforms were created by external forces and lack full
ownership and emotional attachment to the problems. They heavily
depend on the external funding which is in many cases linked to
specific directives and above all they lack full partnership
recognition.
BIOPSTRA is purely conceived by senior
African intellectuals with the deep knowledge of Africa ’s
problem and the right solutions to the problems. BIOPSTRA
therefore believes to offer unique alternative solutions to deep
seated development problems of Africa .
The
main motive is therefore Africa ’s development problems should
be and can be solved by Africans. However this does not mean
that everything shall be exclusively done by Africans. BIOPSTRA
is fully aware of the fact that Africa is part of the global
economy and therefore local, regional and international
partnership building is a key component in the process.
BIOPSTRA
will link up with the existing regional and international
development efforts and support partnership building activities
at different levels of the hierarchy to create synergies.
